Fall Housewarming Fête
"This autumn in New York transforms the slums into Mayfair
Autumn in New York, you'll need no castle in Spain
Lovers that bless the dark on benches in Central Park
Greet autumn in New York, its good to live it again." -Billie Holiday
We have entered one of my favorite seasons as someone who loves to hostess. There is a never-ending supply of inspiration for fall – especially for our pumpkin lovers!
Why not celebrate this transition from summer (goodbye iced coffee and hand fans!) to fall (hello cute accessories) with a little party!
Recently I threw a “Fall Fête” for a group of close friends. (“Fête” means party in French, and I loved the flow of the double “FF”.) Full of good food, drinks and of course dessert!
As you can all glean, I love things to feel chic, cute and decadent. People often remark that my parties seem to be so ornate and they could never throw anything like it, but it’s really about attention to detail.
Since I was hosting this in my apartment, I wanted to match my décor. The base color I chose was gold. I would suggest a color that you can incorporate into future parties, that way you can buy the items in bulk, which will be cheaper and you will have the basic set up for future events. I bought gold solo cups (yes! they exist!), gold plastic silverware, gold napkins and gold shot glasses (further explanation below).
As silly as it seems, these little details will help elevate your fête!
All of the items above were purchased on amazon.com.
As the menu is rather ornate, I will be splitting the details of this post in the “Eat” tab in three blogs:
Drinks
Food
Dessert
Happy Fall-ing!
